The turning point in the game came in the West Indies innings. The Caribbeans were comfortably-placed, at 103 for one, in the 20th over, with Johnson Charles (60) going from strength to strength.

However, the introduction of Ravindra Jadeja ensured the dismissal of the West Indies opener -- the left armer having him out leg before to a ball that didn't turn as opposed to the batsman's expectations.

Indian team celebrate with Ravindra JadejaCharles's wicket had a domino effect and had the former champions reduced to 109 for four by the 24th over.

The West Indies innings progressed in fits and starts thereafter and they crawled to 182 for eight by the 46th over.

Some lusty hitting by Darren Sammy (56 not out) ensured the total (233-9) had a semblance of respectively even as 51 runs came off the last four overs.

However, the damage had been done in the middle of their innings.

India never faced a problem chasing the paltry total.
