Ajinkya Rahane will finally make his long awaited debut in Test cricket after being named in the Indian team for the fourth and final match against Australia, starting in Delhi on Friday.

The Mumbai batsman's selection in the playing eleven was confirmed in the Indian team's meeting on Thursday, sources close to the team said.

- 'Rahane will do well as an opener'

Ajinkya RahaneBut it is unclear yet whether the right-hander will open the innings or whether he will bat in the middle order.

He has been included in the side as a middle order batsman but he could be asked to open the innings in this match or he may bat at No. 5 with Cheteshwar Pujara being asked to open.

He will come in as the replacement for Shikhar Dhawan, who was ruled out of the Delhi Test with injury. The left-hander had hit the fastest century by a debutant in Tests in the third match in Mohali before he sustained a finger injury while fielding.

Suresh Raina was called into the squad in place of Dhawan but he may be benched.

India have already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series and will be looking to register their first whitewash in a four-Test series.
