Kolkata cricketer Rahul Ghosh, who was hospitalised after sustaining a head injury during a local league match, is stable and recovering, but doctors said he still needs to be kept under observation in intensive care.

"His pulse rate, blood pressure is normal. He's talking, feeling hungry and there's no dizziness or feeling of nausea," the medical director of Nightingale Hospital, Dr Sabyasachi Sen, said.

The Police cricketer, who was hit on the head during the CAB Second Division match against Vijay SC.

"There will be a repeat of CT Scan and MRI today to doubly check that there's no clot. We don't want to take any risk and will keep him under observation. There's no question of any discharge now. If he's fine then we will shift him to general bed," Dr Sen added.

Earlier, Sports Minister Arup Biswas visited Ghosh and assured the family of full support for the youngster's treatment.

"The Chief Minister (Mamata Banerjee) is very anxious and concerned about Ghosh's health. She wants his full recovery and has ensured all support. We have asked the hospital authorities for best of treatment without thinking about the expense," said Biswas.

Ghosh's injury had come at a time when the cricket world is yet to recover from the tragic death of former Under-19 Bengal captain Ankit Keshri, who died of cardiac arrest at the same hospital on April 20, three days after getting hit on head while taking a catch.
