Australian legendary spinner Shane Warne has questioned the logic behind ruling Michael Clarke out of World Cup opener against England despite appearing to be fit during a warm-up game, saying that he would have preferred the skipper to play the match on Saturday in Melbourne.

The former leg-spinner said that he thinks Clarke was just ready to go, adding that being that fit at the moment, he knows deep down now that he is done and there was nothing more that he could do, News.com.au reported.

However, Warne said that the physios and everybody planned a certain path for Michael and had tried to break him with his fitness tests.

Reflecting on the upcoming clash against England, Warne said that this was a big game adding that it would be a better way to give everyone a bit of a spring -- the crowd, the followers and fans -- when the captain was ready to play.
