Slamming Raj Kundra's criticism of Justice Lodha Committee's order of suspending the Rajasthan Royals owner from any cricketing activity for life, petitioner in IPL spot-fixing scandal Aditya Verma claimed that the London-based businessman's statement is a contempt of Supreme Court order.

The Lodha panel, in its verdict on Tuesday, suspended Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and RR from the Indian Premier League (IPL) for two years in the 2013 spot fixing and betting scandal and also barred Kundra from any cricketing activity for life. Kundra reacted by stating that he has been "wronged" and Verma feels that his reaction is questionable.

"On 15th July, 2015 Mr. Raj Kundra, owner of Rajasthan Royal (Franchise of IPL) while speaking to the media has committed Contempt of the Order passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India," Verma said in a press statement.

Verma also cited the SC order that clearly states a proper route for any redressal by the aggrieved party.

"The Committee shall, before taking a final view on the quantum of punishment to be awarded, issue notice to all those likely to be affected and provide to them a hearing in the matter. The order passed by the Committee shall be final and binding upon BCCI and the parties concerned subject to the right of the aggrieved party seeking redress in appropriate judicial proceedings in accordance with law, …" the Supreme Court had clearly stated at the relevant portion of clause (II) of the paragraph 110.

"In view of such an Order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court the act of Mr. Raj Kundra to tarnish the image of judiciary while speaking to media is not only violation of the Orders passed by the Supreme Court but also amount to Contempt of the order passed by the Supreme Court," said Verma.

"The act of Mr. Raj Kundra is highly deplorable and being a Petitioner in this case before the Hon'ble Supreme Court I am deeply hurt," he added.
