Australian explosive batsman David Warner has become the second player of his country and fourth overall to enter cricket's most exclusive 6000 runs club in Twenty20 format.

The 29-year-old achieved the milestone during his side's three-wicket win over Bangladesh in their World T20 clash at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Monday after smashing 17 runs from nine balls in Australia's successful run chase.

West Indies' swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle (8826 runs), Australia's Brad Hodge (6998) and former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum were the only players to have scored more runs than Warner (6005) in the shortest format of the game, news.com.au reported.

Former Australian batsman Damien Martyn believes that Warner should take Usman Khawaja's spot at the top of the order, who struck a brilliant 58 runs from 45 balls during the Bangalore World T20 win.

Describing Khawaja as a 'classy' player, Martyn said that there was no doubt that the opening batsman did pretty well, but added he was a bit slow as compared to Warner.

Highlighting that Warner had earlier mentioned that he loves batting in the middle order, Martyn added that if he wanted to perform at his absolute best then he should take opening spot.

Australia, which have clinched their first win of the ongoing World T20, will play their next match against Pakistan at Punjab Cricket Stadium on Friday.
