Dougie BollingerA superb bowling spell by Doug Bollinger helped Chennai Super Kings crush Deccan Chargers and romp into the final of the Indian Premier League on Thursday.

After Chennai were restricted to 142 for seven in their 20 overs, Deccan Chargers were the favourites heading into the innings break.

But Australia's left-arm pacer Bollinger foiled their plans; he came with up a remarkable spell of four for 13 and Deccan were dismissed for 104 in 19.2 overs. The Super Kings scored a comprehensive 38-run victory.

Bollinger got off to a perfect start, with a maiden over, as Deccan failed to get going in the early overs.

The defending champions struggled to 19 in five overs before Bollinger claimed two wickets in his third over.

He started with the important wicket of Adam Gilchrist, who was caught at midwicket for 15; in the same over, T Suman was brilliantly caught by Suresh Raina at cover for four.

Having got that fantastic start, the Chennai spinners continued the good work in the middle overs and claimed wickets at regular intervals.

Andrew Symonds threatened with a brisk 23 from 22 balls, before he was caught at deep midwicket off R Ashwin.

The end came soon after when Bollinger struck with another couple of wickets in his final over.

Ryan Harris offered a simple catch to Murali Vijay at long-off and was out for 15. The left-arm pacer ended his spell in some style when he bowled B Sumanth for 16 with a fast yorker to reduce Deccan to 103 for eight after 18 overs.

Having made it to the IPL final for the second time in three years, Chennai will be hoping Bollinger can come up with another match-winning spell in the final against Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
