Rajasthan got off to a good start despite losing the early wicket of Naman Ojha (13).

Michael Lumb, their South African recruit, began proceedings by desptaching Irfan Pathan twice to the fence in the opening over.

The left-hander made 41 from 30 deliveries before he was stumped by wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara off Piyush Chawla, in the eighth over.

Shaun Tait took three for 22 as Rajasthan Royals beat Kings XI Punjab by 31 runs to jump to fifth in the standings.

Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan exchange words after almost colliding for a catch that saw Yusuf Pathan being dropped on seven.

Yusuf announced his arrival by smashing Shalabh Srivastava to the square-leg fence for a boundary.

Two balls later, in what was probably a display of fraternal feelings, Irfan dropped an opportunity offered by elder brother Yusuf at long-off in the ninth over.

Chasing a formidable target, Kings XI Punjab got off to superb start.

Captain Kumar Sangakkara made 29 off just 13 balls to ensure his side was not bogged down by the opposition's big total early on.

However, Shaun Tait got the first breakthrough when he had the Punjab captain caught by Faiz Fazal at third man.

Yusuf Pathan celebrates after taking the wicket of Mohammad Kaif.

Kaif was lucky to survive off the first delivery when umpire Shavir Tarapore turned a close leg before wicket appeal against Adam Voges.

But Kaif perished in the very next over, when he was trapped leg before wicket by Pathan after scoring just eight to continue his bad run in the tournament.

Kings XI lost their last eight wickets for 45 runs and were bowled out for 152 in 19.1 overs. They lost the match by 31 runs.
