Hanumant, Ramaswamy in ICC panel

Former Indian Test cricketer Hanumant Singh, and umpire V K Ramaswamy have been selected as the International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee and umpire respectively for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in Kuala Lumpur from September 9-19.

Hanumant Singh forms one of a panel of six match referees including justice Ahmed Ebrahim of Zimbabwe (last seen being instrumental in the abandonment of the Christmas Day, 1997 ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Indore), Peter ven der Merwe of South Africa, Cammie Smith of West Indies, Siddath Wettimuny of Sri Lanka and former John Reid of New Zealand.

Ramaswamy, meanwhile, is one among ten umpires who will officiate at the Games, the others being Javed Akthar and Salim Badar of Pakistan, Steve Bucknor of West Indies, Dough Cowie of New Zealand, Darrell Hair of Australia, Rudi Koertzen and Edward Nicholls of South Africa, Dave Orchard of England and K T Francis of Sri Lanka.
