Jadeja to lead Board President's XI; Azhar, Mongia in side

Faisal Shariff in Ahmedabad

Ajay Jadeja will lead the Board President's XI which will play a three day game against the visiting South Africa team at the Brabourne Stadium in Bombay next Saturday.

Former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin (Hyderabad) also finds a place in the side.

Other members of the team are:

Sadagopan Ramesh (Tamil Nadu)

Jacob Martin (Baroda)

J Arun Kumar (Karnataka)

Wasim Jaffer (Bombay)

Murli Kartik (Railways)

Harbhajan Singh (Punjab)

Debashish Mohanty (Orissa)

T Kumaran (Tamil Nadu)

Amit Bhandari (Delhi)

Mohammad Kaif (Uttar Pradesh)

Ritinder Singh Sodhi (Punjab)

Chairman of the Board of Selectors Chandu Borde said, "we have experienced with youth, now this team is a blend of youth and experience." He said Arun Kumar and Jaffer will vie for the opener's slot for the first Test against Hansie Cronje's team.

S Ramesh, Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jaywant Lele, said, "was fit and ready to play." Ramesh had his hand fractured during the third Test in Australia. Martin too, Lele added, had been rested and was fit for combat.

Azharuddin has not played international cricket since the Indian team was knocked out of the World Cup in June.
