Kambli, Muzumdar slam centuries

Vinod Kambli and Amol Muzumdar stole the limelight at the Wankhede stadium in Bombay today, hammering breezy centuries against Saurashtra on the third and penultimate day of the West Zone Ranji Trophy league match.

Skipper Muzumdar, looking for a place in the Test side, and Test discard Kambli came together when the home side was 114 for 3 and tore the Saurashtra attack to shreds as they added 229 runs for the fourth wicket in 49.3 overs. Muzumdar scored 131 and Kambli an unbeaten 125 before Bombay declared their second innings at 372 for 4 wickets.

Set a victory target of 487 in a maximum 106 overs, Saurashtra, who trailed by 114 runs in the first innings, finished the day at 33 for no loss in 16 overs.

Muzumdar slammed 15 fours and two sixes in his 254-minute, 169-ball innings, while Kambli struck one six and 16 fours in his 177-ball unbeaten knock lasting 233-minutes.

Bombay 297 and 372 for 4 (Amit Pagnis 50, Amol Muzumdar 131, Vinod Kambli not out 125; Niraj Odedara 3 for 130). Saurashtra 183 and 33 for no loss.
