Saba Karim steers East to victory

A fine knock of 98 runs by Syed Saba Karim gave East Zone a four-wicket victory over West Zone in the Deodhar Trophy limited-overs cricket match at the Sardar Patel Gujarat stadium in Ahmedabad today.

The victory swelled East's tally to four points and kept them in the race for the title.

Karim was involved in two half century partnerships for the fourth and fifth wickets as East, chasing 263 to win, reached the target for the loss of 6 wickets off 48.2 overs. The first was in association with Nikhil Haldipur - 63 runs in just 11.5 overs- and then with Sanjay Raul - 69 runs in 13.5 overs.

Earlier, West, thanks to a superb hundred by captain Sitanshu Kotak and a power-packed 82 by Vinod Kambli, put up 262 for seven off their 50 overs.
