Warne in trouble again

Some people cannot escape trouble whatever they do. It just seems to follow them. Shane Warne is one of this crowd. Close on the heels of his dirty phone calls controversy, he was involved in a barroom brawl in a London pub.

The actual scuffle was between a cricket fan and a group of Hampshire players, including Warne, who were celebrating their seven-wicket win over Middlesex in the NatWest Trophy quarter final.

According to police reports, the incident occurred shortly after 7pm GMT Tuesday in the Lord's Tavern in London's St Johns Wood. Supposedly, a Middlesex fan approached Warne and asked him to autograph his hat.

Middlesex member, David Payne, who was present and was an eyewitness said, "The fan approached Warne who refused to sign the hat and then something was said.

"One player smashed his pint glass down on the table and brought it to the guy's face. He never connected and loads of guys dived in."

He also said that Warne was not involved in the fight but another Hampshire player had to be held back after taking offence at the fan's behaviour.

The police were called following reports of a "fracas". "A man alleged that he was threatened during a confrontation involving several customers," a spokeswoman said.

No one got injured and no arrests were made.
