Gavaskar heads ICC's cricketing committee

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has been appointed chairman of the International Cricket Council's cricketing committee. He takes over from former West Indian great Clyde Walcott.

Gavaskar, who is in London at present, was quoted as saying, "It is a great feeling to be appointed to such a post." He said he is looking forward to measuring up top the new responsibility.

The cricketing committee of the ICC has the overall responsibility of looking look into playing aspects, recommending changes and also reviewing sensitive laws like those on chucking and the number of bouncers bowled per over.
