Atapattu completes third double century

Sri Lanka opener Marvan Atapattu completed his third Test double century in the 15 minutes of play possible on the rain-drenched third day of the final Test against Pakistan today.

Atapattu, 199 overnight, had to wait until the final session to make the runs after the first two were washed out.

He hit the first ball of the day past mid-wicket for three to pass the 200 mark, his second double century in Kandy.

Atapattu reached 207 not out as Sri Lanka, resuming on 449 for five in their first innings, added another 18 runs in the 2.5 overs of play possible.

Pakistan lead the series 2-0.
