Commonwealth Games gold medallist Samresh Jung scored 577/600 to finish 24th in the men's 10 metres air pistol event as the Indian shooters continued to disappoint in the ISSF World Cup in Zagreb, Croatia.
Jung stood no chance in a high quality field of marksmen vying to grab a quota place for the 2004 Athens Olympics.
But his score was three more than his effort of 574, recorded at the World Cup in Fort Benning, USA, last month.
The two other Indians in the fray, veteran Jaspal Rana and promising Raunaq Pandit finished 32nd and 59th, recording scores of 575 and 568 respectively, national coach Sunny Thomas informed over phone from Zagreb.
On Wednesday, in the 10m air rifle event, Suma Shirur finished seventh after strong contender Anjali Vedpathak-Bhagwat had to settle for 15th place in the women's section.
India's best bet in the men's section, Abhinav Bindra failed to make the final and eventually finished 11th.
