Top seed Rupesh Roy of West Bengal and Maharashtra's Aditya Madkekar entered the boys' semi-finals of the Junior National tennis tournament in Hyderabad on Thursday.

In a hard-fought battle, Aditya rallied superbly to defeat Vivek Shokeen of Delhi 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 to make it to the last four while Rupesh had an easy victory against Sumit Prakash Gupta of Uttar Pradesh, winning 6-2, 6-1.

Vishnuvardhan (AP) and Sourab Kohli (Maharashtra) won their quarter-final encounters to complete the semi-finals line-up.

It was an all Andhra Pradesh affair in the girls' section with K Pooja, P Reddy, Poonam Reddy and Sandri Gangotri winning their quarter-final matches in straight sets.

Boys (quarter-finals):

Rupesh Roy (WB) bt Sumit Prakash Gupta (UP) 6-2, 6-1

Vishnuvardhan (AP) bt S Prateek (Ktk) 6-0, 6-3

Aidtya Madkekar (Mah) bt Vivek Shokeen (Del) 4-6, 6-1, 6-4

Sourab Kohli (Mah) bt M Jeevan (TN) 6-2, 6-4.

Girls (quarter-finals):

K Pooja (AP) bt S Preeti (TN) 6-4, 6-3

P Meghna (AP) bt Sushrutha Reddy (AP) 6-0, 7-5

Poonam Reddy (AP) bt Visakha Sheorder (Del) 6-2, 6-2

Sandri Gangotri (AP) bt Anukruthi Prasad (Del) 6-3, 6-4.
