Greek first division football club Panionios Athens has denied having any plans to sign star Indian player Baichung Bhutia, saying it is yet to receive any letter regarding the footballer's interest in the club.
The club's Public Relation Officer Kostas Papadakos said on Tuesday, "Panionis FC has no idea about the proposed deal. Until now no official letter from any manager regarding this player (Bhutia) has come to our club."
"Needless to say we are not keen to get this player, not because we do not want him but simply because we do not know him," he said.
Media reports had said Bhutia planned to play for the Greek side and quoted him as saying, "If the offer is good enough I'd certainly go for it... My agent will get back to me in two days."
Bhutia, who played for Mohun Bagan last season, created history in 1999-2000 when he became the first Indian to play in England for second division side FC Bury.
