Favourites Mohun Bagan drubbed an off-colour Mohammedan Sporting 3-0 in their Super Division football league match in Kolkata on Sunday.

Mohun Bagan kept up the pressure throughout the match, with Asim Biswas (14th min), Mehrajuddin (53th min) and Sunil Chetri (65th min) netting the goals in an inspired showing ahead of their trip to Myanmar.

Asim Biswas opened the floodgates for Bagan with a solo effort. Getting the ball at the centre line from a counter attack, he sprinted with the ball down the right flank into the penalty box, dodging a couple of Sporting defenders, before beating goalkeeper Chinmoy Banerjee hands down.

Mehrajuddin scored the second goal through a grounder, foxing the Mohammedan defenders and custodian after getting a pass from Basudeb Mondal at the edge of the penalty box.

Finally, Sunil Chetri sealed the fate of Sporting with an excellent volley from a centre by Jira Sangha.

Mohun Bagan now have 17 points in their kitty from seven outings, while Sporting landed themselves in serious trouble with only three points from five matches.

Bagan are scheduled to leave for Mayanmar on August 2 to play three matches against the country's national team and the result of today's match should certainly boost their morale.
