Indian ace Anju Bobby George missed out on the bronze medal by a whisker, finishing fourth in the IAAF World Athletics Final long jump in Monaco on Saturday.

The World Championships bronze medallist registered a best jump of 6.61 metres and finished outside the medal bracket.

The event was again dominated by the three Russian women who emerged victorious at the Athens Olympics last month.

Irina Simagina, the Athens Games silver winner, took the gold with a jump of 6.74 metres.

Tatyana Lebedeva, the Olympic gold medal winner, won the silver at 6.72m and Tatyana Kotova, who had won the bronze at the Olympics, again ended up with a third-place finish.

Anju had finished sixth in Olympics with a personal best of 6.83m.
