French Open champion Gaston Gaudio overcame a mid-match slump to defeat Spaniard Tommy Robredo 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 to take the Estoril Open claycourt title in Estoril, Portugal on Sunday.
Robredo won the first game against the Argentine but then made countless unforced errors in losing the next six and the set.
Gaudio lost his opening serve in the second and never recovered as Robredo levelled.
But the world number five upped his game in the decider, racing into a 5-0 lead before closing out the match with an unreturnable forehand.
