The Disciplinary Committee of the Alchemist 27th Federation Cup football tournament on Saturday decided to suspend Fransa Pax goalkeeper Mark Mascarenhas for the next two matches for lashing out at the Mohammedan Sporting players in the first round match on Friday. The player, it said, had violated Article 48 of the FIFA and AIFF disciplinary code, regarding violence, deliberate assault on another player, without harming his health.

Mascarenhas has also been slapped a fine of Rs.5,000. The suspension does not go beyond the tournament.

The AIFF also placed Mohammedan Sporting captain Suley Musa under immediate suspension and will serve him a show cause notice. His case will be referred to the AIFF disciplinary committee for breaching article 48 and article 68 of the AIFF.

Match referee A Arjunan, who officiated in Friday's match between Fransa and Mohammedan Sporting, in which players came to blows, will be given no further matches in the Federation Cup.

The decisions were arrived at after the Disciplinary Committee went through the reports of all the match officials as well as video recording, according to Alberto Colaco, general secretary of the AIFF.

Incidentally, Musa was whisked away early on Saturday morning after Mohammedan Sporting officials were informed there was an arrest warrant against the player for threatening to assault Goa minister for Agriculture, Mickey Pacheco, president of Fransa Pax football club.
