Francis Andrade's double strike from penalties guided Salgaocar to a hard fought 3-1 victory over spirited Vasco in the quarter-finals of the 27th Federation Cup football tournament at the Nehru stadium in Fatorda, Goa, on Tuesday.

After Vasco's Rovan Pereira restored parity to Francis Andrade's early strike in the first half, the match went into extra-time, in which Salgaocar scored twice through Samson Singh and Andrade, who was named man of the match.

Salgaocar will now take on Sporting Clube de Goa in the semi-finals, to be played on October 27.

The other semi-final between Mahindra United and Churchill Brothers will be played on Wednesday.

Andrade opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a well-taken spot kick, but Rovan Pereira put Vasco on level terms in the 34th minute following a pass from Anthony Pereira.

The second session was a battle of attrition as both sides pressed hard for the match-winner, giving nothing away.

In extra-time, Salgaocar drew on all their experience and displayed that extra staying power as they scored twice, first through Samson Singh in the 94th minute and then Andrade in the 113th minute from a penalty after Caitano Costa brought down Samson inside the box.

Costa was shown the red carded for foul on Samson Singh four minutes after the penalty incident.
