Sania Mirza and her Israeli partner Shahar Peer fought back after dropping the first set to get past unseeded Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan and Angelika Bachmann of Germany 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 and storm into doubles semi-finals of the Bank of the West Classic tennis tournament in Stanford.

The third seeded Indo-Isreali pair failed to coordinate in the first set but did well in the next two sets to clinch match in an hour and 20 minutes.

They meet Hsieh Su Wei of Chinese Taipei and Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia for a place in the final.

Partnering Bethanie Mettack of the United States, Sania had claimed her second doubles title of the year at Cincinnati last week.

Sania also made it to the quarter-finals of the singles event after shocking French sixth seed Tatiana Golovin 6-4, 6-1 on Thursday.

The victory set up a quarter-final showdown with fourth seed Patty Schnyder of Switzerland, who registered a 7-5 6-2 win against Russian qualifier Yaroslava Shvedova.
