Sania Mirza began her Wimbledon campaign on a perfect note as she demolished Russian Yaroslava Shvedova 6-0, 6-3 to breeze into the second round of the women's singles.

The 20-year-old Sania was all into her elements as she took just 55 minutes to wrap up the match against the world no. 80 and avenge her Bangalore Open loss.

Sania, world no. 44, faces a tough task as she meets 11th seed Russian Nadia Petrova for a place in the last 32.

Sania, however, had got the better of her fancied second round opponent the only time they met in San Diego in 2005.

Apart from a last minute hiccup when she lost two match points in the final game, Sania went about her business in a clinical fashion against Shvedova.

Shvedova, 19, had left Sania in agony when she upstaged the Indian in front of a packed home audience in the quarter-finals of the Bangalore Open in February.

But at a more bigger occasion and at the grandest of stage in tennis, Sania chose to call it her day.

Sania converted four of the eight break points that came her way and also served well, winning 73 per cent of first serves.

Sania's best Wimbledon outing was the second round appearance in 2005, while reaching the fourth round of the US Open in the same year stands her best Grand Slam performance.
