Double blow for Rohit Bisht

Qualifier Vaidik Munshaw emerged a surprise champion as Delhi's Rohit Bisht squandered his chance for a double crown at the All India National Super Series Junior Tennis Tournament 2007 at the Bombay Gymkhana on Saturday.

Gujarat's Munshaw denied fourth seed Rohit the boys' under-16 title following a 6-3, 6-1 win in a final that lasted one hour.E

Earlier, as top seed, Rohit crashed in the championship round where his brother Ronit, the second seed, helped himself to his maiden under-14 crown.

Third seed Shweta Rana of Delhi required just 65 minutes to demolish No. 7 seed Sonia Dayal of Maharashtra to claim the girls' under-16 title with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

Vaidehi Bhagvat clinched the girls' under-14 title to end the winning streak of surprise finalist, unseeded Amrita Mukherjee of West Bengal, with a convincing 6-3, 6-0 victory.

Boys U-16: Q-Vaidik Munshaw (Guj) bt 4-Rohit Bisht (Del) 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles: S. Siddharth/N. Sai Kartik bt ChetanPandit/Mandeep Gill 6-2, 6-3.

Boys U-14: 2-Ronit Bisht (Del) bt 1-Rohit Bisht (Del) 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles: Arjun Kadhe/R. Ram Kumar bt G. Rupana/K. Suraj 6-2, 6-2.

Girls U-16: 3-Shweta Rana (Del) bt 7-Sonia Dayal (Mah) 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles: S. Arushi/R. Saadgi bt B. Spurthi/S. Mohana 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

Girls U-14: 2-Vaidehi Bhagvat (Mah) bt un-Amrita Mukherjee (WB) 6-3, 6-0.

Doubles: Natasha Palha/N. Sansitha bt Vaidehi Bhavat/Anushka Bhargava 6-1, 6-1.
