An 86th minute goal by substitute Milagres Gonsalves helped Salgaocar hold Mumbai's Air India to a 1-1 draw in their second round match of the ONGC I-League, at the Nehru stadium, Fatorda, Goa, on Thursday.

Both goals came in the second half.

In other matches, in Mumbai Durand Cup champions Churchill Brothers routed Mahindra United 5-1, while Mohun Bagan suffered a 1-3 defeat at home to Viva Kerala.

Air India shot into the lead in the 78th minute through Santosh Kohli. Gonsalves equalised in the 86th minute.

With this drawn match, Salgaocar have one point from two outings, while Air India increased their tally to two from two drawn matches.

After a barren first half, Air India almost went ahead in the 77th minute but Salgaocar defender Agnelo Colaco made a goal line save off a shot taken by substitute Njoah Jean, who came in place of Samson Singh.

But a minute later they shot into the lead following Jean's cross. The ball hit one of the rival defenders and deflected towards Santosh Kohli, who pounced upon the opportunity and scored.

Stung by the reverse, Salgaocar rallied and restored parity in the 86th minute through Gonsalves, who gained control of an aerial ball well and placed it neatly into the goal.

Salgaocar's medio Rocus Lamare was adjudged man-of-the-match.
