The Goa Football Association has suspended Churchill Brothers manager Denzil Ferrao and official Ciabro Alemao for a year for assaulting the referee in Sunday's Vodafone Goa Professional League match in Vasco.

Monday evening's GFA executive committee meeting, chaired by secretary Savio Messais, which lasted nearly four hours, also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on both the Churchill officials while the club was slapped a penalty of Rs 5,000.

Referee Angelo Fernandes has also been temporarily suspended for three months for not showing the red card to manager Ferrao as, in his complaint, he had mentioned that the latter head-butted him during the match.

Meanwhile, the GFA has also took cognizance of an incident in an inter-village match and suspend St Anthony Sports Club player Domingos Fernandes for a year for hitting the referee. He was also fined Rs 2,500.

Messais also said the committee agreed to organise the Governor's Cup in the first week of November while the Super Cup, involving the top four finalists of Vodafone League, will play a knock-out event from November 15.

With Dempo already crowned as Vodafone champions, the second, third and fourth places will be decided after the final round. Churchill, Salgaocar and Sporting Clube De Goa are in contention.
