BSF score in second half to beat Signals, Goa

A strong second half performance enabled Border Security Force beat Corps of Signals, Goa, 3-0 in the Osian Durand Cup football tournament qualifiers at the Ambedkar stadium in Delhi on Monday.

After a barren first half, goals by Boy Singh (65th minute), Harjeet Singh (84th) and Sarbjeet (93rd) settled the matter.

Earlier, Delhi outfit G4S Hindustan Football Club edged past local rivals Garhwal Heroes 5-4 via the tie-breaker after the teams were locked goalless in regulation time.

Manish Maithani, Jagbandhu Modi, Israel Gurung, Nathan and Harminder Singh found the target for Hindustan while Ashish Pandey, Davesh Kaushik, Inderjit Sharma and Ganganlung Kamei were successful for Garhwal Heroes.

Rajib Karmakar had his kick from the spot saved by custodian Santosh Kumar Das after which Harminder won it for Hindustan.

They will take on BSF on October 25 to decide who goes into the main draw of the 120th edition of the tournament.
