Coach Ottmar Hitzfeld was relieved to see Bayern Munich restore normal service at the Allianz Arena with a 2-0 win over Karlsruhe on Saturday.

Bayern had not won a home league game since the end of November but high-quality goals from Luca Toni and Franck Ribery saw them through with few problems.

It was a third victory in eight days for Bayern, following a 1-0 win away to Schalke 04 in the league and a 5-0 demolition of Anderlecht in the UEFA Cup, and it took them seven points clear at the top, after Werder Bremen lost 6-3 away to VfB Stuttgart.

"It was very important for us to shake off this home complex," Hitzfeld told reporters in Munich. "I hope that's it over with.

"I'm very satisfied with the way the week's gone. We were under a lot of pressure but we knew Werder Bremen had a tough game at Stuttgart and we were able to take advantage."

It was an especially satisfying win for Bayern keeper Oliver Kahn, who started out as a Karlsruhe player and is calling time on his long Bundesliga career at the end of the season.

"It was nice to see us maintain that same level as we showed in two very tough away games," Kahn told Premiere TV. "Now we have to show that we can keep hold of this small advantage in the title race. It's not yet a definitive step."
