		Only certain islands have been developed into resorts. Each resort is on its own private island and pollution and uncontrolled commercialism are just not permitted. Strict guidelines on what these resorts should look like have also been laid down. Shells and coral cannot be collected. It is no accident, therefore, that the Maldives are a corner of paradise on earth.
