Ian Frazer, Indian cricket team's biomechanic specialist doubling up as the unofficial bowling coach, should be shown the door, former Cricket Board secretary Jaywant Lele demanded on Monday.
Lele said that Frazer was not required in the support staff of team and should be removed before a decision was taken on coach Greg Chappell.
"I don't think we need a trainer or a biomechanist to assist the team. This paraphernalia is not needed. The players are experienced enough to know what they should do, and they don't need advise from a biomechanist," Lele said.
Lele said coaching had now become "multi-million dollar business" and felt that a cricket manager would be a better option than appointing a coach.
He said the Indian team needed a cricket manager like Sunil Gavaskar to guide it back on track after the World Cup debacle.
"Tell me, can anyone teach Rahul Dravid or Sachin Tendulkar how to bat? I feel that a cricket coach is not needed for the team. What's needed is someone like Sunil Gavaskar's credentials to be appointed as its cricket manager," said the ex-BCCI secretary from Vadodara.
When reminded that former captain Gavaskar may not be available to take over the job as suggested by him, Lele said it was up to the BCCI to find out an ideal man.
The BCCI has called for a review meeting in Mumbai this week to discuss the team's abysmal show in the World Cup where it was knocked out in the preliminary stage and the future of Chappell to be determined during the post-mortem.
The first day, April 6, has been reserved for an interaction with Chappell and Cup manager-cum-selection panel member Sanjay Jagdale after receiving their tour reports followed by another interaction of the office bearers with seven former skippers.
The outcome of these two meetings are to be put forth in the BCCI's Working Committee's sitting on April 7.
As per current indications, Chappell's report is to contain strong words on what went wrong in the campaign.
