Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh have replied to the Board of Control for Cricket in India's show cause notice for their remarks on ex-coach Greg Chappell, but the ace Mumbai batsman is said to have offered no apologies.
While Tendulkar sent his response on Saturday morning, Yuvraj Singh said he submitted his reply two days ago.
Tendulkar is said to have told some television journalists off-camera that he did not apologise but only explained his position.
CNN-IBN cites sources as saying that Tendulkar has in his one page letter explained his 'outburst' against Chappell, but that there was no question of apologizing.
The sources are quoted as saying that in his letter, Tendulkar said he went public because his commitment towards the game was questioned. It was not, says the story citing unnamed sources, his intention to criticize or attack anyone.
Yuvraj, who is in Mumbai to participate in the All-India Inter-State Twenty-20 tournament, was unwilling to divulge details of his reply.
"Yes, I have replied to the BCCI two days ago, but I don't want to say anything more. I can't reveal the contents of my reply too," the middle order batsman.
BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla said Tendulkar sent his reply, but since Saturday was a holiday, the contents of the letter would only be known on Monday when the BCCI's office reopens.
"I have talked to him (Tendulkar) and he said he sent his reply in the morning. I can't talk about the contents since we have not received the letter yet," Shukla said.
"It is only on Monday we will know what he has answered. We will analyse the reply and then decide what to do," he added.
However, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said he would issue a statement on Sunday.
"I don't know anything. I will talk to the BCCI office people and issue a media statement tomorrow at 12 noon," Shah told reporters in Rajkot.
The BCCI, in its Working Committee meeting on April 7, decided to issue show cause notices to Tendulkar and Yuvraj after the duo allegedly breached the Board's Code of Conduct by commenting in the media on the coach.
The notices, with a seven-day deadline, to both players were sent on April 9.
Tendulkar, in an interview after India's disastrous World Cup campaign, had criticised Chappell, who was said to have questioned his attitude. Yuvraj had reportedly endorsed Tendulkar's views.
