Irfan Pathan is confident of regaining lost form and producing a top-class showing at the coming World Cup in the West Indies.
Speaking at a TATA Indicom function in Delhi on Wednesday, the left-arm fast bowler brushed aside doubts about his fitness, declaring that he would be in top condition for the March 13-April 28 tournament.
Pathan, who was sent back from the tour of South Africa because of lack of form and asked to play domestic cricket, said he is "focusing on maintaining a tight line and length before looking for swing or pace".
In response to a question whether he made the mistake of consulting too many experts on how he should bowl, the 22-year-old replied that in cricket one only keeps learning.
"I am still learning and I would talk to as many experts as possible to improve my game. It is one thing to bowl with the new ball and totally different to bowl with a ball that is couple of overs old," he added.
The 'Vadodara Express' was not unduly worried about criticism in the media.
"If I keep on getting wickets even on bad balls nobody would ask me whether I am bowling the in-swingers or out-swingers as I used to do at one point of time. Now people ask me where is my lethal weapon. It is very much there. I am trying had to improve my bowling.
"I will be fully match-fit before the World Cup as we have four practice matches before it gets underway," je explained.
He said though he is essentially a bowler, he would like to consolidate his position in the side as a batsman as well.
"I think I did the right thing by playing matches for my state. It is one thing to bowl in the nets and another to bowl in a game. I have gained tremendously by playing Ranji Trophy matches for Baroda."
Talking about the World Cup, the Tata Indicom brand ambassador said India has the potential to win the tournament.
"It all depends upon how we play on a particular day. Every team would be working hard to win the Cup."
