West Indies would not have complained too much about the Duckworth-Lewis method requiring them to score 190 in 48overs, when their opponents Ireland had scored only 183.

In fact, they wouldn't have complained even if they would have been asked to score 255 because the Rediff.com expert felt they could easily get around 255 in 48 overs.

So, Chris Gayle and Shinvarine Chanderpaul walked out to begin the chase with a Pressure Index (PI) of just 38.

The PI rose to 43 when the big fellow Gayle fell for 18, more a victim of his impatience than of the Irish bowling.

Chanderpaul, however, has always been a patient customer, as indeed is Ramnaresh Sarwan. The duo batted together for 25 overs taking their team from 24 for 1 to 143 for 1 before Sarwan perished.

By then the PI was in the 20's and it was simply a matter of waiting for the end to come. Marlon Samuels finished it off in style with a flurry of sixes.

Chanderpaul was happy to get his first World Cup century. Given the way he batted, there could be a few more before this tournament ends.
