Sri Lanka's cricket World Cup team, stranded in London following cancelled Emirates flights to Colombo in the wake of Sunday's Tiger bombing raid, will return home through India, official sources said on Tuesday.

The players were due to travel home on Emirates Flight EK348 via Dubai on Thursday, but the team's travel plans went haywire after their official carrier, Emirates, pulled out flights to the capital city following the Tamil rebel bombing raid, Sri Lanka Cricket officials said.

"We now hope to bring to Trivandrum and from there get a connection on Sri Lankan airlines to Colombo," a cricket official said.

Emirates and Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific indefinitely suspended flights to Sri Lanka after air raids by Tamil Tigers.

The rebels used two light aircraft to bomb two fuel depots near Colombo and they crossed the international flight paths during their bombing mission.

Singapore Airlines said it would only fly to Sri Lanka during the day.
