However, Ashwin (83 not out) and Pragyan Ojha (three not out) take the match to a fifth day. 

India end Day Four on 239 for nine (after 83 overs), leading England by 32 runs.

Scorecard:

England finally get the wicket when Panesar cleans up Ishant (10).

Ishant survived 53 balls and helped Ashwin put on 38 runs for the ninth wicket. 

The latter goes on to complete his third Test fifty with successive boundaries off Swann, the second shot also tying the scores.

India 208 for nine after 74 overs.

R Ashwin and Ishant Sharma are frustrating England here. 

the duo have put on a 33-run stand for the ninth wicket to help their side inch close to avoid an innings embarassment.

Scorecard:

Finn strikes twice in two overs toget England further coach. 

The speedster first has Virat Kohli (20) caught behind before trapping Zaheer Khan (0) plumb in front.

Ashwin is lucky to survive off Panesar as Prior fumbles with a stumping. 

England close in on a win as India reel at 162 for eight in 57 overs.

Scorecard:

Virat Kohli and R Aswin have ensured their no further damage before tea. 

India go into the interval at 145 for six after 51 overs, needing a further 62 to make England bat again. 

The visitors will be more than happy with the performance of their bowlers.

India has lost its fifth wicket. 

A beauty from James Anderson shatters Yuvraj Singh's (11) stumps.The bowler returns to have the Indian captain MS Dhoni caught by his counterpart for a duck

India in tatters at 125 for six after 43 overs.

Scorecard:

A boundary by Gambhir, off Finn, helps India get past the 100-run mark. The bowler responds immediately after having the left-hander caught behind. 

Gambhir's 104-ball 40 is inclusive of four boundaries and a six. Virat Kohli to join Sachin Tendulkar at the crease.

The latter doesn't survive for long though, edging a Swann delivery to Trott at first slip.

It would have been worse had Bell not let off Kohli (on four) at short leg, Finn being the unfortunate bowler.

India reduced to 119 for four after 34 overs.

Scorecard:

A direct hit by Ian Bell runs Pujara (8) out. 

Gambhir is again guilty of running his partner out. He himself survives a catch appeal, getting the benefit of doubt.

India reduced to 98 for two after 30 overs.
11:53   Eden Test Live! Swann provides England the breakthrough
Scorecard:

Sehwag fails to make his fifty. 

The batsman misses the line completely and is bowled off the first ball after resumption, Swann getting England the breakthrough. 

Cheteshwar Pujara comes out to join Gambhir at the crease. He begins with a couple of well-timed boundaries.

India 96 for one after 24 overs.

Scorecard:

A couple of boundaries in succession off Swann takes Sehwag to 49. 

However, Gambhir makes him wait for his fifty, himself hitting a six off Panesar followed by a boundary.

India 86 without loss at lunch (after 21 overs).

The home team is now 121 runs behind the English total.
10:41   Eden Test Live! Sehwag, Gambhir combine well for India
Scorecard:

Panesar and Swann are keeping it tight but so far have not managed to get the breakthroughs that their team needs them to get. 

Gambhir and Sehwag have settled down quite well.

Samit Patel replaces Swann (2-1-4-0) in the attack in the 15th over and Sehwag welcomes him by smashing the first ball to the fence. A single by him in the fourth ball of the over helps the home team get to the 50-run mark.

India 51 without loss after 15 overs. 
10:12   Eden Test Live! Sehwag, Gambhir help India start well
Scorecard:

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag open the batting for India and it is James Anderson first up for England. 

Gambhir hits the first ball to the fence. Six runs come off the over. Sehwag also begins with a boundary, and edge that goes to the third man fence in the second over by Steven Finn.

Anderson is unlucky as miscommunication between Swann and Cook ensures Sehwag (on seven) is let off and the ball goes to the fence. To rub it in Sehwag hits the next ball to the square leg fence for the second successive boundary.

Spin is introduced in the eighth over, Monty Panesar replacing Finn (3-0-6-0). Sehwag welcomes him with a boundary.

India 27 without loss after eight overs.

Scorecard:

A single by Anderson in the day's third over (by Ojha) helps extend the English lead to 200, a sizeable one for sure.

How much more they can add?

Anderson (9) punches a Zaheer delivery through cover to get his first boundary. He follows it up with another three runs.

However, Ashwin has him caught by Sehwag at first slip in the next over. Monty Panesar at the crease. He is out leg before first ball.

The TV replays show he had nicked it. Lack of DRS helps India again.

England bowled out for 523, a lead of 207.

Scorecard:

Steven Finn has come out to join Prior at the crease. 

Zaheer Khan to bowl the second over, and he strikes second ball, having Prior (41) caught behind. 

It is Dhoni's 200th catch in Test cricket. And it is tow wickets in two overs for India on the fourth morning.

Prior's 49-ball innings included six boundaries and a six. James Anderson comes out to bat.

England 515 for eight after 165 overs.
09:05   Eden Test Live! Ojha strikes early for India, Swann out
Scorecard:

Pragyan Ojha strikes early for India on the fourth morning, in the second ball, having Graeme Swann (21) caught by Virender Sehwag at first slip.

It is Ojha's fourth wicket of the innings and 17th of the series.

Swann's 46-ball knock was inclusive of three boundaries and he helped Prior put 57 runs for the seventh wicket.

England 510 for seven in 164 overs.

Scorecard:

India will have to defy all the odds if it has to save the Eden Gardens Test. 

England will resume at 509 for six, a lead of 193.

The visitors should look to bat the first session and give the home team a healthy target, that will ensure they win without having to bat again.
