Chennai ODI Live! Pakistan thrash India by six wickets

Malik hits the first ball to the midwicket fence and it is all over. 

Pakistan win by six wickets, with 11 balls to spare, to a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. 

Jamshed remains unbeaten on 101 and Malik on 34, the two having put on 56 runs in an unbroken fifth wicket partnership.

A single by Malik, off Dinda, helps the visitors reach the 200-run mark, in the 44th over. 

A single off Dinda helps Jamshed register his second one-day hundred, both against India, having also made 112 at Mirpur.

Another single in the next over, by Malik, helps raise the 50-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Pakistan fair woefully in the batting powerplay, scoring just 13 runs.

Ishant foxes Misbah (16) with a slower delivery, and the 39-run partnership for the fourth wicket comes to an end. 

Shoaib Malik replaces his captain at the crease. Kohli, meanwhile, has landed on his knee and is in pain. He leaves the field and Raina will complete the over. 

Ashwin appears to have got Malik's wicket but it is a no ball.

Dinda is unfortunate as Yuvraj puts down Jamshed (on 68) at point. An easy chance put down. 

Jamshed looked a little hasty after drinks and it is a shame that India failed to take advantage. 

Misbah-ul-Haq, the captain, has helped the batsman calm down. The two are scoring at almost a run a ball and that doesn't augur well for India. 

Pakistan 160 for three after 35 overs and the batting powerplay is taken. 

Five runs come off the first over in the period.

Ashok Dinda is handed the ball by Dhoni in the 31st over, replacing an expensive Raina (2-0-22-0). 

And he strikes third ball, having Younis Khan (58) caught by Ashwin at midwicket.

Khan's 60-ball knock was inclusive of three boundaries and a six and he helped Jamshed put 112 runs for the third wicket.

Pakistan 147 for three after 32 overs.

Younis Khan cuts loose in Yuvraj's fifth over, helping himself to 10 runs, including successive boundaries. 

A single by Jamshed in Ashwin's next over helps the visitors reach the 100-run mark, in the 26th over. 

Another single in the bowler's next over helps Jamshed complete his seventh ODI fifty.

Younis Khan reaches his 48th ODI fifty in style with a six off Raina over long-on. Another six in the over, this time by Jamshed, helps raise the 100-run partnership for the third wicket.

Nasir Jamshed and Younis Khan have put together a good little partnership for the third wicket for the visitors and helped them recover from the early slump.

However, they need pick up the scoring rate.

Scorecard:

Bhuvneshwar Kumar helps himself to a second wicket in his sixth over when he has Azhar Ali (9) caught by Rohit Sharma at midwicket. 

The bowler's first spell figures make for an amazing read: 6-3-5-2. 

Younis Khan comes out to bat with his team desperately requiring his experience. He gets a boundary off Ishant to get off the mark. It is the first boundary of the Pakistan innings comes in the 12th over.

Scorecard:

Ishant Sharma to share the new ball. He gives away only a single. 

The visitors manage just eight runs in their first five overs. Ashok Dinda replaces Ishant (2-0-2-0) in the attack in the sixth over and gives away just four runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls a dream first ball in ODIs. 

An error of judgment from Mohammad Hafeez has his stumps shattered. 

Azhar Ali is fortunate to survive a loud leg before appeal off the second ball. It looks out. Billy Bowden doesn't think so.

Scorecard:

A single by Dhoni off Ajmal helps brings the 50-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Dhoni gets his second six when he smashes Ajmal over the long-on fence. Ajmal ends with figures of none for 42. 

A boundary by Dhoni off Irfan, in the penultimate over, helps the home team get to the 200-run mark. Another off the second ball helps raise the 100-run partnership for the seventh wicket and Dhoni get past 7,000 ODI runs.

A six off the third ball, over cover, helps Dhoni reach his eighth ODI hundred. Irfan concedes 21 runs in his ninth and final over to ends with figures of one for 58.

India finish with a flourish, ending on 227 for six, 78 runs added in the last 10 overs. 

Dhoni remains unbeaten on 113 and Ashwin on 31 and the two put on an undefeated 125 runs stand for the seventh wicket.

When Ashwin hits Ajmal for a boundary in the fourth ball of the 37th over, it marks only the second boundary in 29 overs, clearly indicating how the Pakistan bowlers have dominated the Indian batsmen. 

The home team manages just 23 runs in the batting powerplay. Hafeez ends with amazing figures of one for 26.

Junaid returns to the attack in the 40th over, and Dhoni smashes him for a six over long-on, the first of the match.

Dhoni gets to his 47th ODI fifty with a boundary off Gul and helps the team get past the 150-run mark.

The Indian captain and Ashwin have done well for the seventh wicket.

Hafeez is unlucky as Dhoni (at 16) is dropped by his Pakistan counterpart Misbah at midwicket.

Shoaib Malik replaces Ajmal (4-1-10-0) in the attack in the 27th over. 

The home team reach the 100-run mark in the 31st over, courtesy a single by Raina. The batting powerplay is taken in the 34th over.

And Hafeez strikes in the second ball, cleaning up Raina (43). The left-hander's 88-ball knock included just two boundaries and he helped his captain add 73 runs for the sixth wicket. 

However, his dismissal was ill-timed.

India 104 for six after 34 overs.

Saeed Ajmal replaces Umar Gul (5-0-21-0) in the attack in the 19th over. He gives away just two runs first up. 

It is spin from both ends as Mohammad Hafeez replaces Junaid (7-1-19-4) in the other end. He gives away five runs. 

Both the spinners' second overs are maidens. Raina breaks the shackles with a boundary past point, the first after 14 overs, in the first ball of Ajmal's third over. 

The strike also helps raise the 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

India 84 for five after 25 overs.

MS Dhoni, the Indian captain, comes out to bat with his team in doldrums. 

Irfan replaces an impressive Junaid (6-1-17-4) in the attack in the 14th over. A single by Raina in the over helps the home team get to the 50-run mark.

Dhoni and Raina are doing a good job here, scoring at almost a run a ball and not taking many risks.

India 62 for five after 16 overs.

Suresh Raina has come out to join Rohit Sharma at the crease with the Indian innings in tatters. 

Umar Gul replaces Irfan (4-2-10-1) in the ninth over. He concedes three runs first up.

Junaid gets a fourth wicket in his opening spell, a spectacular catch by Mohammad Hafeez, intelligent placed by captain Misbah as an extra slip, sends Rohit Sharma (4) back.

India 29 for five after 10 overs.

Mohammad Irfan ensures it is double celebration for Pakistan by cleaning up Gambhir (8) in the next over. 

Gambhir was looking ill at ease in the crease and had been fortunate to survive in the bowler's previous over. 

Yuvraj Singh comes out to bat. However, Junaid Khan castles Kohli (0) with a beautiful delivery. And two balls later, he gets through Yuvraj's defence.

India 20 for four after six overs.

Junaid Khan provides Pakistan the breakthrough in the fourth over, rattling Sehwag's (4) stumps with the fifth ball. 

Virat Kohli comes out to bat.

India 17 for one after four overs. 
10:16   Chennai ODI Live!!! India off to a sedate start vs Pak

Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir open for India and it will be Mohammad Irfan first up for Pakistan. It's a maiden first up.

Junaid Khan to share the new ball. He appeals for a leg before only to see the umpire has signaled a no ball. 

Sehwag gets India's first boundary in the over through midwicket. Irfan is unlucky as Gambhir's cut shot is just wide of Younis Khan at second slip.

India 17 without loss after three overs.
09:35   Chennai ODI Live!!! Pakistan win toss, ask India to bat
Pakistan won the toss and invited India to bat first in the opening one day international in Chennai on Sunday. 

Earlier, a damp pitch delayed the start of the game. 

"It's been raining for the last two days. We want to utilise that early moisture," reasoned captain Misbah-ul-Haq.

MS Dhoni, his Indian counterpart, concurred.

"We were looking to field first. There's some moisture in the wicket," he said.
