England 1st inns: 142-2 (52 ovs) vs India 327

India's spin twins Ashwin and Ojha bowling a couple of good probing overs. Cook top edges a sweep shot off Ashwin that fell on the leg side and then edged one which fell short of Kohli at gully.

In the next over, Pietersen edged Ojha which fell just short of Sehwag at first slip. KP then gave it back to the bowler by lofting one back over his head for a four.

An interesting phase of cricket here with the pitch doing enough for the spinners, while Cook and Pietersen ready to attack at any possible opportunity.

Cook pulls a short ball from Ashwin past the mid-on fielder for a four and Pietersen cuts a short ball through the covers for three more runs. Ojha then gets one to bounce a bit extra as Pietersen leaps forward to defend but is beaten and is lucky not to have edged it.

Cook is using the sweep to good effect as he gets it in the gap on the leg side for a boundary to take his score to 65 as England take their score to 136 for two after 50 overs.

AShwin then bowls it wide down the leg side as Cook helps it round the corner for his ninth boundary to continue England's good progress in the post tea session.

Pietersen and Cook have put on 72 runs for the third wicket in 18 overs so far, having scored at four runs per over.

Ojha and Ashwin have bowled majority of the overs in the post-tea session but apart from a couple of deliveries that took the edge or beat the batsmen, England have looked quite secure out in the middle.

It has been England's session so far with 65 runs scored in 16 overs without any wickets.
