Pune 49-1 (6 ovs) vs Punjab | SCORECARD

Punjab introduce spin early as left-arm spinner Axar Patel comes into the attack, and not surprising that move with Pietersen out in the middle.

But he is hit for runs in his very first over, being hit for three fours. The second ball is a poor one, full and on the pads as KP nudges it fine before he chips down the track and smashes the next over midwicket for successive fours.

Faf du Plessis joins the party as he also comes down the track and lofts the fifth ball over mid-on for another four as Patel goes for 14 runs in his first over.

Sandeep, who took a wicket in his previous over, continues. Du Plessis smashes the first ball straight down the ground for another four as Pune look to break free after a slow start.

The South African plays the Dilscoop off the fifth ball, lofting it back over the wicketkeeper's head for the second four of the over, which goes for 11 runs.

Just one over for Patel before leg-spinner Pardeep Sahu is called into the attack. Du Plessis comes down the track and smashes it straight, but David Miller makes a diving stop at mid-on to save a certain boundary.

But the Pune opener smashes the fifth ball straight back past the bowler, who barely has time to react as it speeds away for a boundary. He comes down the track to the last ball and lofts it over the bowler's head for another four as Pune race to 49 for one in six overs, having scored 36 runs from the last three overs.

Du Plessis continues his good form, he has blasted 24 from 15 balls, while KP is on 13 from 10 balls.
