Chris Gayle slammed a quickfire half-century to lift Kings XI Punjab to 163 for seven against Delhi Capitals in Delhi on Saturday.

Gayle blasted 69 from 37 balls before Delhi made a good comeback in the middle overs, courtesy of Sandeep Lamichhane.

Lamichhane, who also dismissed KL Rahul for 12, finished with good figures of three for 40, while Kagiso Rabada and Axar Patel took two wickets each.

Mandeep Singh contributed with 30, while debutant Harpreet Brar played a key innings of 20 not out from 12 balls to help the visitors score some quick runs at the end.

The dew impacted the Delhi spinners to a great deal and it is likely to get worse in the second half of the match, and it remains to be seen how Punjab's spinners manage to overcome the hurdle.
