WI 173-2 (18.3 ovs) vs India 170-7 | Scorecard

Lendl Simmons blasted an unbeaten half-century as West Indies outclassed India by eight wickets, at the Greenfield Stadium, in Thiruvananthapuram, on Sunday.

Simmons, who was dropped on six by Washington Sundar, made India pay big time for that lapse as he hammered 67 not out from 45 balls.

His whirlwind unbeaten partnership of 61 from 29 balls, with Nicholas Pooran, who slammed 38 from 18 balls, took the game away from the Indians as the visitors raced to 173 for two in 18.3 overs, to win with nine balls to spare.

The West Indies levelled the three-match series at 1-1, with the decider to be played in Mumbai on Wednesday, December 11.

Opener Evin Lewis laid the foundation for the run chase as he hit 40 from 45 balls, putting on 73 for the opening wicket with Simmons.

Earlier,  all-rounder Shivam Dube justified his promotion in batting order with a smashing half-century but it was struggle for the other Indian batsmen as West Indies restricted the hosts to 170 for 7.

Despite Dube's 54 off 30 balls, which had four huge sixes apart from three fours, India didn't get the required momentum during the death overs on a track where Caribbean seamers used a lot of back of length slower deliveries along with well disguised short balls.

Kesrick Williams after being subjected to humiliation from Virat Kohli, came back well with figures of 2 for 30 in four overs including the prized scalp of the Indian captain (19 of 17 balls).
