"We're going to field first, I don't think the conditions will change first as the day goes on. Hopefully we get some early movement and wickets," West Indies captain Jason Holder said.

"We wanted to bowl first because of the overcast conditions and a bit of moisture. But it doesn't matter, it will be a good batting pitch," Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said.
14:51

Australian greats like Allan Border and Brett Lee feel two-time champions West Indies and last edition's runners-up New Zealand would prove to be the dark horses.

"I think their cricket is well-suited to that. Watch out for the West Indies," Border told cricket.com.au.

"I look at the West Indies side and I think that's a very dangerous cricket team. If they get some momentum going they could be very, very dangerous. I know as the game gets shorter they get more dangerous, but I think the 50-over game suits them playing in England."

Pakistan will enter another World Cup as the proverbial dark horses with good memories of England.

When the team under Sarfraz Ahmed went to meet prime minister Imran Khan last month before leaving for England, they were reminded by the cricketer-turned-politician of the role of proper planning behind a successful campaign.
