The left-hander gets a leading edge which falls on the off-side for one and Kohli gets another single on the leg side as Tewatia makes a tidy start, conceding just four runs in his first over, with RCB going past 50 in the seventh over.

18:08   Kohli, Padikkal steady RCB after early wicket

RCB 47-1 (6 ovs) vs Royals 177-6

Young pacer Kartik Tyagi comes into the attack.

Kohli picks a single from the first ball before the pacer bowls a wide to Padikkal, who then pulls a short ball fine on the leg side for a four.

The left-hander then finds the gap on the other side as he uses Tyagi's pace and runs it past short thirdman for another boundary and risks a quick single to Smith at mid-off.

Sensible stuff from Kohli as he taps the last ball for a single on the off-side, to get 12 runs from the over.

Left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat is brought into the attack.

Kohli steers the first ball through the gap between point and short thirdman for two runs but is unable to get a run off the last two balls.

The RCB captain then comes down the track and lofts Unadkat over mid-on for a four before he slaps the last ball past point for two runs, to take RCB to 47-1 in six overs. They need 131 runs from 14 overs for victory at an asking rate of 9.35.

Archer makes a good comeback as he cuts Finch into half with the inswinger which goes through bat and pads and goes over the stumps.

Two balls later, Finch pokes at a wide outswinger from the crease and is beaten again.

However, Finch gets the last ball of the middle as he lofts the full delivery over long-off for the second six of the over, which goes for 13 runs.

Gopal gets the breakthrough in the next over. Finch (14) looks to smash the flighted delivery down the ground but fails to get under it as he holes out to Uthappa at long-on.

Virat Kohli gets off the mark with a single to deep square leg and Padikkal sweeps the next for two runs as the short fine leg fielder puts in the dive to save some runs, with RCB on 27-1 in four overs.

Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch are the two openers for RCB, who need a good start in their pursuit of 178, while ace pacer Jofra Archer will be looking to strike with the new ball.

Archer starts with a wide yorker as Padikkal is late in getting his bat to it and is beaten before he defends the next with caution.

The left-hander then guides the third ball to thirdman for a single to get off the mark before Archer produces a beauty to beat Finch. Some extra bounce along with the away movement as Finch looks to defend but is beaten on the outside edge before Archer bowls a leg side wide and the right-hander clips the last ball behind square for two runs, as four runs come from the first over.

Leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal from the other end. Padikkal clips the first ball through square leg for two runs and then nudges the third ball to short fine leg for a single.

Finch comes down the track as he fails to read the googly which hits his pads and goes on the leg side for a leg bye and Padikkal picks one off the last ball, as RCB reach 9-0, in two overs.

Royals 177-6 (20 ovs) vs RCB

Udana to bowl the penultimate over.

Smith takes a single from the first ball before Tewatia swings a full toss from outside off-stump over midwicket and he makes pretty good connection to get it over the ropes for a six.

He then gets two through point and then attempts the paddle scoop but is beaten before hits the fifth ball straight down the ground for two more runs.

Tewatia finally connects with the paddle as he scoops the full toss over short fine leg for a four, to get 15 runs from the over.

Morris to bowl the final over. The first ball is a wide yorker before Smith falls next delivery courtesy of a stunning diving catch from debutant Shahbaz Ahmed at sweeper cover.

Smith had hit over the off-side as Ahmed put in a full length dive to his right and takes it inches inside the ropes to send back the Royals captain after a good innings of 57 from 36 balls.

Tewatia manages just a single off the third ball followed by a dot ball to Jofra Archer, who has a swing but misses.

Morris then bowls a wide outside the off-stump and Archer then hits a full toss on the bounce over the bowler for two runs to long-off.

Saini, who has one over in hand, comes back.

Tewatia gets a single off the first ball to long-on before Smith taps it on the off-side for a quick run but the fielder hits the stumps which gives Royals another extra run courtesy of the overthrow.

A single each to Smith and Tewatia followed by another rurn off the last ball to the Royals captain as Saini concedes just six runs in the 17th over.

Chahal comes back into the attack.

Smith brings out the reverse sweep to hit the spinner over the off-side for a four and then slog sweeps the next for a single.

Tewatia comes down the track and has a swing but only for one to deep midwicket before Smith chips down the wicket and lofts it back over the bowler's head for a four.

That boundary helps Smith race to his fifty from just 30 balls and he gets another bonus as Chahal oversteps to give away the no-ball and the free hit.

Smith swings the free hit delivery straight to deep midwicket for just one before Tewatia goes for the reverse but misses and collects the bye.

Smith switch hits the last ball past point, almost flicking it like a left-hander through point for another boundary.

And to make matters worse, Chahal has overstepped again to give the second free hit of the over.

But again Smith gets just a single from the free hit delivery as Chahal concedes 19 runs in his final over, with Royals on 158-4 in 18 overs.

Smith continues to look in good touch as he guides a wide delivery from Morris to the right of the wicketkeeper for a four and then picks one and Rahul Tewatia takes one off the last ball as Royals reach 133-4 in 16 overs.

Pacer Saini comes back into the attack as RCB look to break the partnership with both Smith and Buttler have got settled down nicely.

Smith steers the first ball to thirdman for one before Buttler punches the next through the covers for two runs.

Saini does well to bowl two dots in a row to Buttler, followed by singles off the last two balls to concede just five runs from his third over.

Royals reach 108-3 in 14 overs, with Buttler on 23 and Smith on 15.

The two batsmen do well to collect singles from the rest of the over, as Ahmed concedes 11 from his second over.

Chahal continues as Buttler slaps the first ball through the covers for one and Smith clips the next on the leg side for one.

Chahal bowls a flighted delivery way outside the off-stump similar to the ball Samson got out to, but Buttler is not taking any chances as he leaves it alone and is rewarded with a wide.

Singles from the last two balls as Chahal concedes just five runs in his third over, with RCB on 96-3 in 12 overs.

Smith drives the first ball down to long-off for a single to get off the mark and Buttler glances the next fine on the leg side for two runs.

Chahal continues as Smith clips the first ball on the leg side for one and Buttler reverses the third ball through the off-side for just one.

Smith then pokes at the fourth ball tentatively as he gets it to short thirdman and then takes a quick single despite the hesitation before Buttler clips the fifth ball for another run before the former offers no shot to the last ball.

At the halfway stage, Royals have reached 80-3 in 10 overs.

Uthappa misses the flick first ball before he chips down the track and hammers the next through the covers for a four.

Saini goes short and this time Uthappa pulls it over midwicket for another six, followed by singles off the next two balls.

Uthappa tries the ramp shot off the last ball but is beaten.

Yuzvendra Chahal comes into the attack. He is welcomed in rude fashion by Sanju Samson who heaves the first ball over midwicket for a huge 94m six and then takes a single two balls later.

Uthappa also looks to target Chahal as he tries the slog sweep but gets the top edge and is caught at deep midwicket by Finch for 41 from 22 balls.

Chahal strikes again next ball with the wicket of Samson. He gives it a lot of flight but bowls it a bit wide and Samson again for the loft down the ground but this time he hits it straight down to Morris at long-off to perish for for nine.

That was a poor shot from the highly-talented Samson, who showed so much promise with the bat in the first few games but his shot selection has let him down big time in the last few games.

Jos Buttler comes in at No 5 with his task cut out in the company of captain Steve Smith, as Royals are reduced to 69-3 in eight overs.

The two Royals' batsmen made the mistake of targettting RCB's best bowler in Chahal instead of waiting for new comer -- left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed.

Royals 52-1 (6 ovs) vs RCB

Morris is called back into the attack. He starts with a wide before Stokes cuts the second ball for two runs as Uthappa makes his crease despite the direct hit from Finch in the deep.

Morris makes the breakthrough with the wicket of Stokes, who goes for the pull, but is caught down the leg side for 15. That was the slower bouncer from Morris as Stokes is early into the shot and gets hit on the gloves before AB de Villiers takes it down the leg side.

Good mix up from Morris as he set up Stokes with the yorker that crashes into his toes before the pacer bowled the bouncer.

Left-arm pacer Isuru Udana comes into the attack.

Stokes also tries to be positive as he jumps down the track but gets a thick outside edge which goes to the right of short thirdman for a four.

The left-hander makes room and plays the cut shot but can't beat point as he attempts a quick run but is sent back. He then defends the slower ball as Uthappa calls him back for a quick run.

Udana then bowls a leg side wide to Uthappa, who charges down the track, but the pacer ends up bowling another wide.

Uthappa continues to be aggressive as he lofts Udana over mid-on for a four. The left-armer makes the mistake of pitching the last ball full again and Uthappa this time lofts it all the way over long-on for a six, to get 17 from the over.

Royals race to 38 for no loss in four overs with Uthappa stroking 28 from 13 balls. They have managed to seize the initiative with 33 coming from the last two overs.

14:18   RCB aim to bounce back against Royals

Welcome to the 33rd match of the IPL between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, in Dubai, on Saturday.

Royal Challengers Bangalore would aim to get their strategy right after some inexplicable decisions during the loss to Kings XI Punjab when they take on an inconsistent Rajasthan Royals.

The Virat Kohli-led RCB has won five of its eight games on the back of all-round performances but seemingly blundered in the eight-wicket defeat to laggards Kings XI.

On the other hand, the Royals' campaign this season has been marred by numerous top-order collapses, forcing the lower half to pull them across the finish line.

RCB's five wins so far include a Super Over triumph over Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The Royals, on the other hand, lie at the seventh spot in the points table with just three wins from eight outings.

The Royals boast of a strong batting line-up. But the likes of Steve Smith, and Sanju Samson have failed to score since the two victories in Sharjah at the beginning of the tournament.

Jos Buttler too has been unable to capitalise on his starts, scoring just one half-century in seven innings.

After failing in his first match of the season, Ben Stokes, who has been elevated to the role of an opener, hit 41 before he was run out against the Delhi Capitals.

Jofra Archer spearheads the Rajasthan bowling unit, along with the spin duo of Tewatia and Shreyas Gopal, who have consistently figured in an XI that has gone through a lot of chopping and changing.

On the other hand, in a baffling decision RCB sent AB De Villiers, who has been in fine form, was sent in to bat at number six.

Left-hander Washington Sundar (13) and Shivam Dube (23) were promoted up the order to accompany skipper Kohli in the middle.

The experiment didn't work as all three batsmen struggled with the South African scoring just two off five balls.

To add to RCB's woes, while defending the total, Kohli decided to save the in-form Sundar for the big-hitting Chris Gayle, who came to bat in the eighth over. That gamble didn't pay off either as the 41-year-old Jamaican smashed the young off-spinner for four sixes.
