23:47   Dominant Mumbai Indians thrash KKR by 49 runs

KKR 146-9 (20 ovs) vs MI 195-5

Pattinson is called back into the attack.

Mavi collects a single from the first ball to hand the strike back to Cummins.

Pattinson then bowls a wide outside the off-stump before he has big swing on the leg side but this time he doesn't connect well and is caught at deep midwicket by Hardik.

Cummins struggled with the ball but showed lot of potential with the bat, with his quickfire 33 from 12 balls.

Pattinson bowls three dot balls in a row to Mavi, who then takes a single off the last ball to retain strike.

Chahar to bowl the final over with 54 needed for victory.

He goes through the formality as Mavi and Kuldeep Yadav take a single each before the former hits the fifth ball over the off-side for two runs.

However, Chahar ends the game in style with a wicket as Mavi comes down the track and is stumped for nine.

KKR finish on a disappointing 146-9 in their 20 overs, to lose by a huge margin of 49 runs as Mumbai bounce back in style after their opening defeat against CSK.

Cummins has a big swing but gets a thick inside edge for one before Nikhil Naik top edges the pull shot and is caught at deep midwicket for one.

Cummins then makes room and slams Boult over the off-side for a four before he picks a single.

Shivam Mavi gets off the mark with a four through square leg off the last ball of the over.

Cummins playing a nice cameo as he clips Bumrah over fine leg for a six before he tries the pull next ball but is beaten.

Another short ball follows and this time Bumrah pulls it short fine leg for another six and drives the next through the covers for two runs.

Bumrah goes for the yorker but dishes out a full toss which Cummins clips over midwicket for the third six of the over.

Bumrah goes for the slower ball but ends up giving away a leg side wide before he bowls another full toss which Cummins slams back over his head for the fourth six of the over.

That spoils Bumrah's figures as he is hit for 27 in his final over, to finish with 2-32 in his four overs.

Cummins providing some entertainment as he races to 33 from 11 balls, with four sixes and a four.

KKR are 139-7 in 18 overs with 57 needed from two overs for victory.

23:32   KKR flop with the bat; Mumbai set for easy win

KKR 102-6 (16 ovs) vs MI 195-5

Left-arm pacer Boult comes back into the attack.

Morgan lofts the first ball on the bounce to long-on for a single before Russell smashes a full toss through the covers for a four.

He throws his bat at another wide but this time get a thick outside edge for a boundary over thirdman and then takes one to long-on.

KKR are 100-4 in 15 overs, needing 96 from five overs for victory at an asking rate of 19.

Bumrah continues and he ends all hopes that KKR might have harboured with the big wicket of Russell.

A quick full delivery which beats Russell's intended swing to crash into the leg stump. Russell walks back for 11 as KKR slip to 100-5 in the 16th over.

Bumrah strikes again in the same over with another big wicket, that of Morgan, who is caught behind for a struggling innings of 16 from 20 balls.

The game is nearly sealed as far as Mumbai are concerned with KKR struggling on 102-6 in 16 overs, with 94 needed from four overs for victory.

KKR 90-4 (14 ovs) vs MI 195-5

Bumrah, who has three overs in hand, comes back into the attack.

Morgan runs the first ball down to thirdman for one before Russell smashes one straight back which is stopped by Bumrah on his follow through.

Russell is then hit on the pads as the ball goes fine for two leg byes before he takes one to mid-on.

Morgan goes for the pull shot but is hit on the body as the ball slowly rolls on the stumps but the bails stay put before the left-hander attempts another pull but is beaten again.

Pattinson comes back into the attack.

Russell can't get the first ball in the gap before he hits the next to long-off for one and Morgan is beaten off the next.

Morgan then finally makes proper connection as he pulls a short ball from Pattinson over midwicket for a six before taking one on the off-side and Russell does well to duck under a quick bouncer as KKR reach 90-4 in 14 overs.
23:11   KKR continue to slip; Mumbai Indians in control

KKR 78-4 (12 ovs) vs MI 195-5

Chahar dents KKR further with the wicket of captain Karthik, who is trapped leg before wicket. Karthik, who made 30 from 23 balls, went for the sweep but missed it and was struck plumb in front.

England captain Eoin Morgan is hit on the pads but the leg before appeal is turned down down, before the left-hander attempts the reverse sweep and is beaten.

Excellent bowling from Chahar as he gets Morgan poking at one outside the off-stump only to miss before he gets off the mark with a single from the final ball.

Just a single run from the over as the asking rate jumps over 13, with 124 needed from nine overs for victory.

Pollard continues as Morgan cuts it past point for a four despite a desperate lunge from Hardik at deep point. The next ball is pitched up as Morgan goes for the big hit down the ground but fails to connect.

Morgan hits Pollard down to long-on for a single as he still struggles with his timing.

Pollard then strikes with the wicket of Rana, who goes for the lofted shot over the covers but Pandya in the deep makes good ground and completes a superb running catch.

That is Pollard's first wicket in the IPL since the 2015 edition.

Rana is dismissed for 24 from 18 balls as KKR are reduced to 78-4 in 12 overs, losing two wickets for seven runs in two overs.

They need 118 from eight overs for victory at an asking rate of nearly 15.

Left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya comes into the attack.

Karthik slices the second ball over the off-side ring for a four and then takes a single next ball towards long-off.

Rana continues his quick start as he smashes Krunal through the covers for a wonderful four and punches the next to long-on for one to keep the scoreboard moving as 10 come from Krunal's first over.

Pollard comes back into the attack with Hardik not yet ready to have a bowl.

He starts with a wide down the leg side before he gets a single to sweeper cover.

Pollard pitches one up as Karthik drives it down the ground for one, followed by four more singles as seven come from the over.

At the halfway mark, KKR are 71-2 in 10 overs, needing another 125 from 10 overs for victory at an asking rate of above 12.

Medium pacer Kieron Pollard comes into the attack.

Rana clips the first ball on the leg side for one before Karthik slashes the next behind point for a four and then picks a single.

A single each to Rana and Karthik as Pollard goes for eight runs in his first over.

Karthik looking to be positive as he lofts left-spinner Chahar over the covers for a four and then clips the next to midwicket for one.

Rana then punches a short ball through the covers for two runs before he sweeps the leggie over short thirdman for a four.

Singles off the last two balls as Chahar concedes 13 from his second over with KKR reaching 54-2 in eight overs.

KKR 33-2 (6 ovs) vs MI 195-5

A good short ball from Pattinson as Narine is hurried into the pull shot which pops up on the leg side but falls safely.

Karthik then blasts a wide delivery through the covers for a four as he looks to rally KKR after a struggling start.

Karthik goes for the pull but is beaten and hit high on the pads before he picks a single.

Another cracking short ball from Pattinson as Narine goes for the pull but gets a thick outside edge with wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock taking a superb one-handed catch.

Narine walks back for nine as KKR slip to 25 for two, in the fifth over.

Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar comes into the attack. Karthik glances the first ball for a single before Nitish Rana lofts the third ball straight down the ground, for a six, to get off the mark in grand style.

Left-hander Rana tries the sweep but can't short fine leg and he pulls the last ball to deep square leg for one.

KKR are 33-2 in six overs, needing 163 from 14 overs for victory at an asking rate of 11.

KKR 19-1 (4 ovs) vs MI 195-5

Gill gets a thick inside edge as he tries to drive Boult and it goes towards behind square for two runs.

Boult goes short and wide as Gill punches it through the covers for his first boundary but the bowler gets revenge the very next delivery.

Gill tries to pull the short ball is unable to make proper connection and is caught by Pollard at midwicket.

Gill out for seven as KKR lose an early wicket, in the third over.

Captain Dinesh Karthik walks in at No 3 as he defends the first ball to point before he plays a handsome drive through the covers next ball for a four to get off the mark in some style.

Jasprit Bumrah comes into the attack. He beats Narine with the first ball with one that goes away from the left-hander and he pushes the next on the off-side.

A good short ball on the body to Narine who somehow keeps it out as Karthik calls him for a quick single. Infact, Narine was struggling to make his crease and if Bumrah had got the direct hit then it would have been curtains for the KKR opener.

Karthik clips the next ball to midwicket as Narine has come a long way down to steal the single but is sent back and this time Pollard misses the direct hit with Narine having given up hopes.

Karthik plays out the last two balls as Bumrah concedes just a single in his first over, with KKR struggling on 19-1 in four overs.
22:08   KKR struggle at the start after Mumbai post 195

KKR 8-0 (2 ovs) vs MI 195-5

Trent Boult to open the bowling for Mumbai Indians, while Sunil Narine and Shubman Gill are the two openers for KKR, who need a quickfire start in pursuit of the huge target.

Gill defends the first ball into the off-side before he offers no shot to the next slanted across him and he pushes the next again on the off-side.

Gill is beaten off the last ball as Boult gets it to move away late, as the left-arm pacer starts off with a maiden.

James Pattinson from the other end.

The first ball is short as Narine takes a hit on the body and he slaps the next on the off-side where Hardik puts in the dive to save some runs.

Narine taps pushes the third ball into the leg side for a single, to get KKR off the mark, after nine deliveries, and Gill clips the fourth ball to midwicket for one.

Narine finally gets going as he picks the slower delivery off his pads over square leg for a six before he mishits the last ball down the ground, as KKR reach 8-0 after two overs.

Andre Russell to bowl the 19th over.

Kieron Pollard has walked out to bat wearing jersey no 150 to celebrate his 150th match for Mumbai Indians

Pandya hits the first ball to long-off for just a single and Pollard does the same next ball.

A lucky break for KKR as Pandya is dismissed hit wicket as he goes too deep in his crease and hits the stumps with the bat while trying to run the ball down to thirdman.

Russell then floors the other Pandya as Krunal is hit on the gloves by a quick bouncer trying to avoid and he does well to make his crease as Pollard calls him for a quick run.

Russell bowls a good yorker from round the wicket as Pollard can only manage a single.

Another quick bouncer as Krunal manages to avoid it this time.

Wonderful stuff from Russell as he gives away just four runs in the penultimate over to dent Mumbai's chance of getting 200.

The young Mavi to bowl the final over ahead of Cummins.

The first ball is full as Pollard drives it to long-off for one before Krunal is beaten all ends up by a full delivery and hit on the pads, as he sneaks a quick leg bye..

Pollard throws his bat at a wide full delivery as he misses and KKR go up in appeal for caught behind which is turned down before they take the DRS, but there is no edge on the Snicko and the umpire calls it a wide.

Mavi gifts Pollard a full toss which he clips over midwicket for a four and he pulls the next to square leg for a couple.

A wide full delivery as Pollard drives it through the covers where it is half stopped for two more runs before he pulls the last ball to deep midwicket for two runs.

Mumbai Indians finish on a huge 195-5 in their 20 overs.
21:34   Mumbai set for huge total vs KKR

MI 178-4 (18 ovs) vs KKR

Cummins continues as he starts his third over with a wide down the leg side before Rohit miscues the pull shot for one.

Hardik then gets a leading edge to short thirdman as Rohit calls him for a quick run and would have been run out had the fielder got the direct hit.

Cummins misses his radar with the slower ball as he sends down another wide down the leg side.

Nothing is working for Cummins as he tries the short ball which Hardik pulls over midwicket for a four and then swats the next square on the leg side for another boundary.

An angry Cummins goes short and quick and this time Pandya ducks under it before he pulls the last ball for a huge six over midwicket.

Cummins goes for 19 in his third over, for a total of 49 conceded in three overs.

The young Mavi comes back at a crucial time in the match with Mumbai on the charge, with three overs to come.

He starts with a big wide on the off-side as it bounces outside the pitch before Rohit eases a full toss over the covers for two runs.

Mavi also makes the mistake of bowling to short, who pulls it over midwicket for a four before Mavi again bowls a big wide outside the off-stump.

Rohit then carves the third ball over the covers for just a single before Pandya slams it to long-off for one.

A big relief for KKR as Mavi strikes with the big wicket of Rohit, who goes for the big hit down the ground but fails to get hold of it and is caught at long-on.

Captain Rohit walks back after a superb knock of 80 from 54 balls, having hit six sixes and three fours, but Mumbai are on course for 200, with a lot of attacking batsmen still to come, as they reach 178-4 in 18 overs.

Mumbai 148-3 (16 ovs) vs KKR

Cummins is back into the attack.

Tiwary tears into the Australian pacer straightaway as he clears his front foot and hammers the first ball down the ground for a four.

The left-hander then swings the next ball over the long-on boundary for a six and dances around the crease before tapping the third ball to point for one.

Rohit walks across his stumps and picks Cummins over short fine leg for one and Tiwary then clips the next past short fine leg for two runs before his partner takes one off the last ball.

Not a good start for Cummins with the ball in the IPL as he concedes 30 runs in his first two overs.

Narine comes back and makes the breakthrough with the wicket of Tiwary with the first delivery of his new spell.

The left-hander tries to loft it down the ground but can't get hold of it and is caught at long-off after scoring 21 from 13 balls.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya comes out to bat at No 5.

Rohit swats the next ball to deep square leg for one before Narine bowls four dot balls in a row to Hardik, to end a superb over in which he took a wicket and conceded just a single.

Mumbai are 148-3 in 16 overs and will aim for a strong finish, to finish on 200 or more. Their hopes will largely rest of Rohit, who has stroked his way to 72 from 49 balls.

21:04   Rohit puts Mumbai on course for huge total vs KKR

Mumbai 132-2 (14 ovs) vs KKR

Pacer Warrier comes back into the attack.

Tiwary picks a single from the first ball before Warrier bowls a wide to Rohit, way out of his reach on the off-side.

The next ball is short and wide as Rohit flays it over the covers for a four before he is beaten outside the off-stump by a full delivery which moves away late.

Warrier again bowls it out of Rohit's reach for another wide and he then pulls the slower bouncer to midwicket for one.

Tiwary clips the last ball through square leg for two runs as Warrier continues to leak runs, with 10 coming from his third over.

In the next over, Kuldeep drops short as Rohit pulls it high over midwicket for a huge six and hits the next down the ground for one.

Slightly short as Tiwary punches it through the covers for a single to hand the strike back to Rohit.

The Mumbai captain then chips down the track and lofts Kuldeep comfortably over the long-on fence to bring up his 200th six in the IPL.

He picks a single on the leg side before Kuldeep bowls a wide to left-hander Tiwary, who then sweeps for one as MI reach 132-2 in 14 overs, and looking set for a huge total.

Kuldeep concedes 17 in his final over to finish with expensive figures of 39 runs conceded from his four overs.

Mumbai 105-2 (12 ovs) vs KKR

Narine continues as Yadav pushes the first ball down to long-on for one before Rohit blocks the next and sweeps the third ball for a single.

Yadav pulls a short ball for one before Rohit clips the fifth ball to the vacant midwicket region and calls his partner for the second. But the bowler Narine does well to rush across and sends in a quick return to catch Yadav short as Morgan gathers the ball and breaks the stumps.

A wicket against the run of play as Yadav walks back after a quickfire 47 from 28 balls, to put Mumbai back on track after an early wicket as put on 90 runs for the second wicket with Rohit.

Rohit keeps strike with a single off the last ball as Narine concedes just five runs in the over, while playing a role in the run out.

Kuldeep also continues from the other end. Rohit misses the sweep as the ball goes fine off his pads for a single to bring up Mumbai's 100, in the 12th over.

Three singles off the next four balls before Rohit sweeps the last ball fine for a couple to bring up his fifty, from 39 balls, as MI reach 105-2 in 12 overs.
20:36   Rohit, Yadav put Mumbai Indians in control

Mumbai 94-1 (10 ovs) vs KKR

Narine comes back for another spell with KKR needing a wicket at the earliest to stop Mumbai's charge.

Narine does well to send down a tidy over as he gives away just five singles in his second over.

Yadav comes down the track to Kuldeep but ends up chipping it back over the bowler for a single and Rohit sweeps the next for one.

Yadav is beaten by the googly as the ball turns away sharply but the spinner has overstepped to give away a free hit.

But Kuldeep does well to restrict the right-hander to just a single off the free hit delivery and Rohit again brings out the sweep for one.

Yadav uses his feet to hit Kuldeep down the long-off for a single before Rohit blocks the last ball.

Mumbai are well-settled on 94-1 in 10 overs at the halfway mark, with Rohit and Yadav on 45 each.

Mumbai 83-1 (8 ovs) vs KKR

Medium pacer Andre Russell is introduced into the attack as he replaces Cummins, who went for runs in his first over.

Yadav steers the first ball down to thirdman for a single before Rohit takes toll of the short ball and pulls it over square leg for a four.

Russell fails to learn from his mistake as he drops short again and this time Rohit swings it over midwicket for a big six and drives the last ball through the covers for two runs as MI continue to build their total.

A desperate KKR introduce left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav to make a breakthrough and check Mumbai's charge.

Four singles from the first four balls before Yadav comes down and plays the inside out shot to perfection for a six over the covers. He has been on the rampage right from the start, racing to 38 from 17 balls, for a strike rate of more than 200.

Not a good start for Kuldeep as he goes for 11 runs in his first over.

Mumbai have laid a solid foundation as they reach 83-1 in eight overs, with Rohit smashing 41 from 27 balls and Yadav hitting 39 from 18 balls.

Mumbai 59-1 (6 ovs) vs KKR

Pat Cummins comes into the attack in place of Warrier, who went for 24 runs in his first two overs.

He starts with a leg side wide before Rohit pulls the next ball over square leg for a six, followed by a single each to the two batsmen.

Another short ball from Cummins and Rohit again picks the length early before he pulls it over midwicket for the second six of the over.

The last ball is fuller as Rohit blocks it back to the bowler as Cummins concedes 15 runs in his first over.

Spin introduced as Sunil Narine comes in to bowl the sixth over.

The first ball is picked over midwicket by Yadav for a four as Mumbai go past 50, in the sixth over.

The right-hander pulls a short ball from Narine for another four to raise the 50-run stand from 27 balls for the second wicket.

A good comeback from Mumbai after the early wicket as they reach 59 for one in six overs, with Rohit on 27 and Yadav on 29.

Mumbai 33-1 (4 ovs) vs KKR

Suryakumar Yadav has a close shave as he gets a big inside edge off Warrier trying to drive it, and it narrowly misses the stumps before going fine on the leg side for a four, to get off the mark in streaky fashion.

Yadav then misses out on a low full toss but two balls later he clips a full delivery off his pads through square leg for a four.

Some width from Warrier as Yadav drives it handsomely through the covers for the third boundary of the over.

Warrier then gifts the right-hander half volley on the pads which he flicks over midwicket for the fourth of the over, as Warrier concedes 16 in his second over.

Mavi continues as Rohit drives the first ball through the covers for two runs and then blocks the next on the leg side.

Slightly short from Mavi as Rohit punches it off the backfoot through the off-side for a couple.

You bowl wide to Rohit and he will keep driving it all day through the covers as he does again with Andre Russell struggling to run after the ball and concedes three runs and Yadav clips the last ball over midwicket and gets two runs as MI recover to 33-1 in four overs.

Mumbai 8-1 (2 ovs) vs KKR

Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock are the two openers for Mumbai Indians, while Sandeep Warrier will open the bowling for KKR.

The first ball is full as de Kock taps it to mid-off and takes a quick single to get off the mark.

The next ball is outside the off-stump and moves away slightly as Rohit is beaten playing inside the line before he blocks the next two balls watchfully on the off-side.

A short wide ball from Warrier as Rohit slaps it off the backfoot but can't get it past the fielder at point before the pacer bowls a wide down the leg side.

That wide proves costly as Rohit slashes the last ball square on the off-side, all the way over the point boundary for a six to get off the mark in smashing fashion.

No Sunil Narine or Pat Cummins with the new ball as Shivam Mavi comes in from the other end. He strikes with his second delivery as de Kock top edges the pull shot and is caught on the leg side for one.

Rohit flicks the next ball as it falls just short of the fielder at midwicket before he is beaten by the inswinger delivery two balls later.

A perfect start for Mavi as he begins with a wicket-maiden with Mumbai reduced to 8-1 in two overs.

Kolkata have a couple of young pacers in Sandeep Warrier and Shivam Mavi to partner Pat Cummins, while Sunil Narine will handle the spin duties.

Defending champions Mumbai, who lost the opening match of the tournament against Chennai Super Kings, are unchanged as they aim to bounce back.

Welcome to the coverage of Indian Premier League match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, in Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday.

Four-time champions Mumbai Indians will be keen bounce after their defeat to Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener, while Kolkata Knight Riders will be aiming to make a winning start.

The high-profile clash will be a keenly watched-battle between big hitters on both sides on a sluggish Abu Dhabi track.

Mumbai boasts of a power-packed batting line-up featuring captain Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya, while KKR feature the likes of Sunil Narine, who has made an impact as the opener, along with Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana and the dangerous Andre Russell.

A lot of KKR fans will be eagerly watching the young Shubman Gill, who would no doubt be keen to leave a mark in the world's most followed cricket tournament.

Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah had a rare off-day, leaking 43 runs against CSK and he would like to bounce back against KKR's powerful line-up.

Apart from pacers and spinners Krunal Pandya and Rahul Chahar, they need one more option in the bowling and that can be in form of all-rounders Hardik and Kieron Pollard.

KKR are strong in the spin department as Narine has considerable experience of T20 cricket, while Kuldeep Yadav is a proven match-winner. Pat Cummins will lead the pace attack and could have youngsters Prasidh Krishana and Kamlesh Nagarkoti for company.
