CSK 7-1 (2 ovs) vs Delhi | Scorecard

Ruturaj Gaikwad opens the batting for CSK along with veteran Faf du Plessis, while England's Chris Woakes will bowl the first over for Delhi Capitals.

The first ball is a beauty, pitched on length and moving away, as Gaikwad pokes at it and is beaten.

He taps the next back to the bowler before driving a wide full delivery through the covers for a four to get CSK off the mark.

He then takes a leg bye as he misses the clip off his pads.

A half-volley on the pads which du Plessis clips to the fielder at square leg and then punches a short wide delivery into the covers but again he can't get it in the gap.

The young Avesh Khan from the other end. He starts with a wide down the leg side to Gaikwad before he gets the next ball to nip back in sharply to the right-hander, hitting him high on the pads.

Gaikwad clips the fourth ball off his pads but Woakes at short fine leg dives full length to his left to save the boundary and concede just a single.

Avesh makes the early breakthrough with the wicket of du Plessis, who is trapped leg before wicket by the full incoming delivery.

Du Plessis has a chat with his partner Gaikwad before he decides walk back without taking the review.

Interestingly, Moeen Ali walks in at No 3 ahead of seasoned campaigner Suresh Raina, who has batted most his career at that position for CSK.

Moeen watchfully defends the last two balls as Avesh makes a good start with the ball.
