RR 217-7 (20 ovs) vs Punjab Kings 221-6 (20 ovs) Scorecard

What a thrilling finish this. Punjab narrowly edge Rajasthan Royals by 4 runs in their season opening campaign.

Rajasthan were out of the contest, then in the contest and then out of the contest before captain and centurion Sanju Samson and youngster Riyan Parag smacked the bowlers for big runs in the death, taking 46 runs in three overs late in their innings.

Shami and Arshdeep put on a good show with the ball but it was Samson's night as he lit up the Wankhede with his beautiful, effortless hitting.

Only if he would have taken that single off the penultimate ball of the innnigs, will all their fans be thinking.

Arshdeep comes on to bowl the last over and he has to defend 13 runs here.

He starts nicely with a dot, full and wide to Samson.

Samson then slices the ball to deep backward point and gets only a single.

Morris tries to whack the low full toss but can't get it past Chris Gayle in the covers. Only a single for Morris.

Samson then just meets the ball and smashes it over extra cover for a six!

5 needed off 2 now.

Samson plays the next ball to extra cover but does not take a run, sends back Morris.

5 needed off 1 now, Samson tries to go big but is caught at the boundary. He goes for 119 and Rajasthan lose by 4 runs.

Morris is the new man in. After a dot and a single Samson flicks him for a huge six!

A single and a dot to end the over as 8 runs and a wicket come off it.

Riley into the attack now and he takes out Tewatia first ball.
