'Although the conditions are not perfect, the toss will be at 9:15 PM, start at 9:30 PM. Eight overs per side, two overs of the powerplay and a bowler can bowl a maximum of two overs,' informed the two umpires.

They are hopeful the ground staff can dry it up in time.

'It is still soggy. It is not safe for the players and we are still waiting for it to dry. Both teams will come strong and the run-up is a point of concern. The safety of the players is a priority. Let's see if we can get something tonight,' say the umpires.

Next inspection at 8.45 PM.

We all wait.

Ahead of the second T20I, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli met his IPL teammate Glenn Maxwell during the warm-up session in Nagpur on Friday.

Meanwhile, the groundsmen have sprayed sawdust on the boundary line but it is the bowler's run-ups that seem to be concern.

There is a lengthy chat between the umpires and the two captains.

There will be another inspection at 8 PM.

The outfield was wet from all the overnight rain. There were a couple of wet patches and hence the delay.

18:02   Will India bring back Bumrah?

In a do-or-die game against World Champions Australia in the second T20 International in Nagpur on Friday, Team India's selection will be closely monitored.

As India aim to bounce back in the must-win second match, they will definitely ponder a few changes.

A fit and fiery Jasprit Bumrah is a pre-requisite for India as the home bowlers are increasingly being found out on batting belters.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who has been India's go-to spinner in all conditions, isn't looking menacing anymore. He has been expensive in the last few games and he will have to find a way to trouble the batters on wickets which doesn't offer much purchase.

However, all-rounder Axar Patel, who was shoed in as a like-for-like replacement of injured Ravindra Jadeja, has once again proved his worth with a three-wicket haul on Tuesday.

In batting, India's aggressive approach reaped dividends as KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav took the team beyond the 200-mark after top order batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed early.

Designated finisher Dinesh Karthik didn't get much chance on Tuesday and is likely to be given extended game time with the management looking to keep all options open going into the world cup.

Australia, on the other hand, have looked like a well-oiled machine, despite the absence of key players such as David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh. Australia, however, would hope for a more disciplined show from their bowling unit after the pace trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Green bled runs in Mohali.

The wicket at VCA stadium, however, will be different than the Mohali track. It is expected to be on the slower side, which will make bowlers' role more prominent in this game.

With dew setting in the evening, teams will prefer to chase than defend totals.
