India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to field against Ireland in a rain-delayed Group A match of the ICC World Twenty20 at the Trent Bridge stadium, in Nottingham, on Wednesday.

The start of the match was delayed by 50 minutes due to rain and reduced to an 18-overs-a-side affair.

Despite having already secured a berth in the Super Eights, defending champions India decided against experimenting in the match and retained the same team that beat Bangladesh in the previous game.

Rohit Sharma will once again open the batting with Gautam Gambhir, while Pragyan Ojha is the second spinner in the team to partner Harbhajan Singh.

In the first match of the day at the venue, Sri Lanka outclassed West Indies by 15 runs.

Teams:

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Pragyan Ojha and Ishant Sharma.

Ireland: William Porterfield (captain), Jeremy Bray, Andre Botha, Gary Wilson, Kevin O'Brien, John Mooney, Alex Cusack, Andrew White, Kyle McCallan, Regan West and Boyd Rankin.
