Welcome to Rediff.com's coverage of the second Test match between India and New Zealand in Bangalore. The match is evenly poised after two intense days of see-saw battle.

India will be looking to build their total on day three, while New Zealand will be hoping to take the new ball and claim a few early wickets.

At stumps on Day 2, India were 283 for five in 78 overs, trailing NZ's score by 82 runs.

Kohli looks set for Test century as he finished unbeaten on 93 from 174 balls, having hit 12 fours and a six. Dhoni started off positively before settling down to score 46 from 70 balls, with the help of five fours and two sixes.

The two batsmen have so far put on 104 runs in 27.3 overs for the sixth wicket to guide India out of trouble.

They scored 115 runs in 31 overs for the loss of one wicket in the final session.

New Zealand started with a bang with the ball but their pacers lost steam as the ball grew older. Southee was impressive as he claimed three for 35, while Bracewell took two for 66, including the wicket of Tendulkar.

Suresh Raina revived the Indian innings after they were reduced to 80 for four with a brisk half-century (55 from 90 balls).
